SOCIAL CONTRACT FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOVATION

The goal of this initiative is to achieve a general and multilateral commitment in favor of science and technology in the autonomous communities of the Basque Country and Navarra, as a necessary instrument of consensus for building together:

• A model of sustainable development that places its bets on knowledge as a factor for competitiveness.
  
  
• An intellectually active society with culturally and technologically prepared citizens.
  
  
• A research system that reinvests its results in the well being of society.
  
  
• A citizenry that participates in and shares responsibility for scientific and technological advances. 
  

To develop this contract, NAIDER has the invaluable cooperation of a group of prestigious personalities from the arenas of education and research, the business world, and social work.

Thus, four main groups have been identified:

• Public and political institutions.
  
• Educational, scientific, and technological agents.
  
• Companies and business associations.
  
• Citizens and social organizations.

A consensus exercise is being undertaken regarding the commitment that must be made in order for the path of joint and coordinated work to lead to the objectives established for investment in research and development (R&D).
